Gina Foster is our Funky Soulstress Singer
(Swing Out Sister, ABC)
Tonight’s concert with Paul Carmichael band features Gina Foster on vocals.
Gina (and our sax player Rob Hughes) have just completed a tour with 80s legends ABC (Martin Fry) doing a series of special concerts with an orchestra.
Gina’s many other credits include working with Swing Out Sister, where she is also a featured singer.
GINA ON YOU TUBE WOTH SWING OUT SISTER
Gina Foster sings a few classic soul tunes like “Betcha Wouldn’t Hurt Me” (from Quincy Jones “the dude”) and is a fan of Norman Connors songs, which we will do tonight such as Herbier Hancock’s “Butterfly” and “you are my Starship”
So added to our usual mix of Latin Jazz Fusion it adds a funky twist to tonight’s music.
And as if that not enough, we also have the amazing Victor Bynoe. Vic has worked with us for many years as our super front man, but as a solo artist he also worked with the Drifters,
So aswell as his wonderful percussion playing we will be playing some classic Roy Ayers tunes, and look out for his RAP on my original song from “Wax is Melting” CD “GoGo”
Rhythm section tonight is our super talented composer and arranger Rick Laughlin, the ubiquitous (everyone’s favorite drummer in London!) Sophie Alloway, and on Sax/Flute, Rob Hughes.
Rob has also finished the ABC tour, but his credits are extensive, in addition to his solo projects on RobHughesMusic.com.
Keys - RICK LAUGHLIN, featured on his solo Abum project.
We will also be playing music from the album Wax is Melting
and some very funky classics.
